Noblesville Boom battle hard but fall short in season opener to Grand Rapids Gold

NOBLESVILLE, IND. (Nov. 7, 2025) — The Noblesville Boom, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, opened their inaugural 2025–26 campaign Friday night with a hard-fought 130–124 loss to the Grand Rapids Gold.

Despite dressing only eight players, the Boom showed grit, pace and promise in a high-scoring contest at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids where the Gold erupted for 80 first-half points before the Boom stormed back after the break. Forward Jalen Slawson led all scorers with 31 points, connecting on six three-pointers and adding five assists. Kyle Guy followed with 24 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Gabe McGlothan contributed 17 points and seven boards. Rookie guard Steven Ashworth added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Boom.

Grand Rapids had balanced scoring from Curtis Jones with 25 points, Tamar Bates who had 23 points, Moses Brown who recorded 22 points and Kessler Edwards who posted a 19-point, 14-rebound double-double with three steals.

The Boom return home tomorrow night at 7 p.m. for a rematch with the Gold at their inaugural game in Noblesville. Fans attending the home opener will receive a free Boom T-shirt, with a postgame fireworks show outside The Arena at Innovation Mile.
