Mathias lit up the league during his short stint with the team, showing no rust after a shoulder injury that sidelined him for nearly three months of the season.
The five-year G League veteran averaged 21.9 points, 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across nine games, while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from three-point range. He instantly became one of the league’s premier long-range shooters, finishing the regular season ranked 13th among all players in three-point shooting percentage.
Mathias made his season debut just hours after joining the team on March 5, erupting for 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting to go along with six assists and four rebounds against College Park. A few games later, he delivered a career performance by recording the first triple-double of his G League career, posting 31 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds on 9-of-15 shooting from the field -including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc - against Westchester on March 14.
